Life

Part of yoga is about igniting our inner fires and stimulating our internal energies. You may remember our brief introduction to the seven chakras, which are the hubs of energy stretching along our spines. Another aspect of our subtle body is the nadis.
The last two years of our lives have been the most unexpected, painful, and strange for us as a family, a company, and as individuals. Some of you may know us a little better and know that on June 30, 2019, Aida Bielkus, sister, daughter, mother, and co-founder of HYL suddenly passed away from an aortic rupture. Having never experienced grief to this level or depth before, each of us, separately and together, processed, experienced a range of emotions we never had felt, and together with our friends, family, and community embarked on trying to find meaning in life’s most curious of mysteries-death.
Father’s Day is right around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to express how much the dads in your life mean to you. In the busyness of life, their sacrifices often go unacknowledged. Let the dads and father figures in your life know how special they are to you this Father's Day with a heartfelt letter.
Before you can dive into balancing and healing your chakras, you need to have a foundational idea of what each of the seven chakras is. Each chakra is represented by a different color and part of your body. The chakras affect different aspects of your physical, mental, and energetic health.
If someone were to ask you what your favorite thing about the outdoors is, what would you say? The outdoors is undoubtedly remarkable, and because our actions directly impact the ecosystem, we encourage everyone to take a few steps towards protecting the environment. On June 5, try one of the following activities to give back this World Environment Day.
Memorial Day is just around the corner, marking the start of summer for many of us. You may have a BBQ in your backyard planned, the pool may already be ready for swimming, and you probably have the perfect spot staked out for a night of fireworks with the family and your friends. There are many great ways to celebrate Memorial Day, an important holiday to remember the men and women who have died serving our country. Here are a few ways to honor our fallen heroes.
Mercury Retrograde gets a bad rap—it’s known as the time of miscommunications, travel mishaps, and contract snafus. It kind of sounds like no one should even be getting out of bed in the morning, but since this is impossible, we want to give you a few tips for not only surviving Mercury Retrograde but also thriving during the next retrograde, which runs from May 29 to June 22.
It’s time to put your noses on! Red Nose Day is on May 27 this year, and you don’t want to miss this special fundraising event to end child poverty. By donating to Red Nose Day, you can bring hope to children in underserved communities. The outbreak of the coronavirus has caused levels of hunger and homelessness not seen since the Great Depression. This year Red Nose Day is funding programs that keep kids affected by the pandemic safe, healthy, and educated. Share a laugh and support kids facing difficult situations by lending a helping hand on Red Nose Day.
Being a mother is rewarding, but it comes with its set of challenges. Whether you are a working or stay-at-home mom, a new mom, or an empty nester, we honor you and appreciate you! Here at Health Yoga Life we know that moms come in many varieties, and this day is to celebrate you.
