All the Things You Can Do with Coconut Oil

Just how Windex was the cure-all in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, it almost seems like the new saying could be, “Put some coconut oil on it!” There are so many things you can do with coconut oil that we’ve put together a list of our favorite ways to use this versatile, natural oil.

Tame Frizzy Hair

Keep your wild mane in check with coconut oil. Liquefy it in the microwave or the warmth of your hands, then massage it through your wet hair strands. Let it sit for a few hours, then wash it out.

Moisturize Your Skin

Even during the warm summer months, our skin can become thirsty. Replenish your skin’s moisture with coconut oil. It’s safe to use for all skin types and gentle enough to use on your face. Yes, even oily skin! It can actually prevent some of your skin’s natural oil from building up. Rub the oil into your skin each night before bed. You can also use coconut oil after dry brushing.

Remove Makeup

Gently remove makeup with liquified coconut oil on a cotton swab. It’s even gentle enough to remove eye makeup.

Soften Chapped Lips

Struggling with dry lips? Smooth coconut oil over them. It acts as a natural lip balm that moistens your lips for hours.

Relieve Eczema

If you or your child suffers from eczema or other skin irritations, massage coconut oil into your skin. Research shows that those who use coconut oil on their skin saw an improvement in their symptoms.

Heal Wounds

Did you get a paper cut? Did your kid scrape his hands and knees after taking a fall on his bike? Put coconut oil on it! Coconut oil has antibacterial properties and can reduce inflammation, helping minor cuts heal faster.

Fight Hangnails

Do you feel like you have hangnails on almost every one of your fingers no matter what you do? Give coconut oil a try! Massage it into your cuticles a few times each week.

Improve Oral Health

In a practice called oil-pulling, you swish coconut oil in your mouth for 15 minutes to remove bacteria, improve gingivitis, and fight bad breath.
