Self-Care for Moms

Being a mother is rewarding, but it comes with its set of challenges. Whether you are a working or stay-at-home mom, a new mom, or an empty nester, we honor you and appreciate you! Here at Health Yoga Life we know that moms come in many varieties, and this day is to celebrate you.

As a mother to an almost four-year-old, our house is loud and busy. I love my son to pieces, but I often push my own self-care to the back burner. My daily yoga and cardio routines help me find inner peace and balance to my life.

In this recent blog post, it mentions that “HYL supports your emotional wellbeing” through live or on-demand yoga classes and coaching. Yoga has been proven to reduce stress and calm the nervous system, along with so many other benefits.

Here are three mom-friendly tips for embracing self-care this month.

  • Meditate or practice yoga – Find time every day to embrace the peace and quiet, whether its meditating from your office chair or taking your favorite yoga class.  You will see me in every HYL early morning class. That’s my time before anyone in the house wakes up, and it is glorious!
  • OK not to be OK – Yes, like the Marshmello/Demi Lovato song. Remember, that it is OK to have a stressful day. Tomorrow is a new day. But it is good to also feel those feelings and if it helps you, talk about them with someone that will listen, or consider connecting with an HYL Coach. You can learn more about working with an HYL Coach by emailing us at info@healthyogalife.com.
  • Music – I love creating playlists for my HYL cardio classes. I’ve discovered new genres and artists through the process and have taken the time to really listen to lyrics. Try closing your eyes and listening to a song you love.
